総社門跡
This gate was called "Sosya-Mon” or Sosya shrine gate because it was
situated on "Nishi Mon” or the West Gate street of Sosya shrine.
This shape of the gate resembled "Naka-no-Mon” or the center gate of
the same middle moat. The Sosya-Mon structure consited of an outer
gate and an inner gate. The outer gate was "Korai Mon” or a korai style
gate facing the south and the inner gate was Yagura Mon or a gate with
a tower facing the east. Only one section of the original stone ramparts
still retains.
現在では石垣の一部を残すのみである。
門には外門と内門があり、外門は南向きの高麗門、内門は東向きの櫓門であった。
この門は、総社の西門前にあったのでこの名があり、門の形状は同じ中濠の門である中ノ門に似ていた。
南部中源は埋められて国道信号線となっているが、濠、土塁、石垣は概ね原形をとどめている。
姫路城跡は国の特別史跡に指定されている。区域は概ね中濠以内である。
