この門は、もと因州池田家江戸屋敷の表門で丸の内大名
小路(現丸の内3丁目)に建てられていたが、明治25年、
芝高輪台町の常宮御殿の表門として移建された。のちに
東宮御所として使用され、さらに高松宮家に引き継がれる。
表門は昭和29年3月、さらにここに移建して修理を加えた
ものである。創建年代は明らかでないが、形式と手法から
みて、江戸時代末期のものである。屋根は入母屋造、門の
左右に向唐破風造の番所を備えており、大名屋敷表門と
して最も格式が高い。昭和26年9月、重要文化財に指定。

Gate of the Inshu-Ikeda Residence
Known as “Kuromon (Black Gate)*
This was the gate to the Edo (Tokyo) residence of the Ikeda family, daimyo lords
of leaba province (present-day Tottori prefecture). Originally constructed in the
Marutouch *4。 # relancaked to Takahawada - Hachi in 1892, where it
served as the gate to the crown prince's palace. It was subsequently transferred
to the Takamatsu-no-milya household before being restored and reconstructed in
its present location in March, 1954. The style and construction methods suggest
t originaly bal during the Ede perid (1601-1868), howryet the Xact
date remains unknown. Featuring a hipped-gable roofd twin sentry boxes
with bargeboarded cables, this is a highly formal example of daimyo residence
gate. Ik was designated as Important Cultural Property in September 1951.
